pla | Phillip Lehn Architect, LEED AP has provided professional environmental design services for a large range of public and private projects for over forty years. Soon after he first became licensed to practice Architecture, he was asked to form and lead a team of scientists and engineers that designed, formally proposed and obtained the Town of Amherst’s zoning variance approval for what may have been the nation’s first public solar heated and cooled building. In so doing, pla became an early advocate of safe, clean and renewable energy, renewable resource conservation, non-renewable resource preservation and healthy, sustainable and joyful buildings and communities. Inspired by great teachers, he evolved a minimalist design philosophy and helped realize many smart, fitting, practical, economic, affordable, inventive, sustainable and uncommonly beautiful works. Currently residing and practicing in Edmonds, WA about 20 miles north of Seattle, pla has helped realize projects in New England, New York, Florida, California, the Pacific Northwest, Taiwan and India.
